Yiota was raised in Greece and after high school she moved to Thessaloniki for her studies. Four years later Yiota moved to Chicago, IL to attend IIT where she graduated with a Master's in CS. Panayiotis was raised in Cyprus. Once he had graduated from high school, Panayiotis moved to Boston to attend MIT. Four years later he graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's in CS. Both moved to the Bay Area because of their jobs. The couple had a few common friends who introduced them at a "Greek" gathering. They all got together in a kind of "taverna" in San Fransisco. Yiota and Panayiotis started hanging out as friends for a few months, but it was only a matter of time before they became a couple! When they decided to get married, they knew a huge wedding was certainly not on the cards. They wanted to have family and very close friends to celebrate their special day. Having a wedding in their birthplaces (which is pretty common for Greeks/Cypriots), would probably mean many, many, many, many guests... so they decided to avoid that and get married in a place they both loved! Many of their friends from the States hadn't visited Greece before. They thought this would be a good opportunity for their families and Greek friends to go on vacation together so they invited them to one of the most beautiful places one can be in Greece...Santorini! A lot of customs were followed by both families to honor their Greek roots: The traditional ‘shaving of the groom’ prior to the wedding and the wedding crowns which are an extremely important item during the Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony. They were handmade from silk and produced in the bride’s hometown – Soufli in Northern Greece known for its silk production and processing. The brides favorite elements from the day were olive bunches and lavender which where widely used throughout the wedding. aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0121 aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0122 aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0123 aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0124 aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0125 aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0126 aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0127 aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0128 aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0129 aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0130 aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0131 aWEDDING-AT-lamaltese-SANTORINI-GREECE-0132 Styling, Planning & Coordination: StellaAndMoscha // Venue: La Maltese // Florist: Sudio 7 // Invitations & Favors: Events To Celebrate // Photographer: Thanos Asfis Photography // Bride & Groom Hotel (preparation): Chromata Santorini // Ceremony: Anastasi Church in Imerovigli // Wedding Dress: Jim Hjelm // Bride's Shoes: Badgley Mischka // Groom's Attire: Burberry // Rings by: Tiffany Contact StellaAndMoscha for your Lavender Inspired Wedding In Santorini
